As part of the cPanel Service Package we disable certain PHP
functions that are known to be a potential security risk in allowing
hackers access to the server. These functions include show_source,
system, shell_exec, passthru, exec, phpinfo, popen, proc_open,
allow_url_fopen. If you require any of these functions to be enabled,
edit the file /usr/local/lib/php.ini, search for "disable_function", and
remove any functions from the list that you want to enable again.
You need to be aware that in server administration there is often a
trade-off between security and convenience, and enabling these functions
will increase the vulnerability of your server to exploits of php
scripts.
